Film przedstawia historię trzynastoletniej dziewczynki o imieniu Lila Lee. Pewnego dnia Lila otrzymuje list od bardzo tajemniczej Lemory. W liście zaprasza Lemora zaprasza młodą dziewczynę do domu pod pretekstem odwiedzin jej umierającego ojca. Lila nie myśląc długo wsiada w autobus i wyrusza w podróż przez mroczny las. Po drodze napotyka się na przedziwne stwory i maszkary. Mimo tych wszelkich niebezpieczeństw udaje jej się dotrzeć cało do posiadłości Lemory. Lila niczego nie świadoma z zapałem poznaje kolejnych członków rodziny Lemory. Szybko jednak orientuje się, iż lemora jest wampirzycą.
